The last 24 hours

We had lots of visitors on Mothers Day to see Jody. It may have been a little to much for him. When everybody left and he relaxed he took a good nap.

He also did a good job in Physical Therapy yesterday. .he walked from one side of the bed to the other and did some other stuff. The rest of the day pretty much consisted of naps.

He did have slightly better night than the night before. He did not sleep but, the pain was not as bad. He finally fell into a good sleep (not deep) around 4 am and I ran back to the hotel at this time to shower and get cleaned up.

When I got back to the hospital he had somehow managed to pull his NG tube part way out and the fixed it. Right after that I helped him up into the chair and the NG tube fell out all the way. He is definitely ornery this morning. Telling the nurse that they are not putting that back in and he is refusing it. I had to threaten to leave before he would hush up and stop. Finally they told him they thought it might be coming out today anyways and that either way until the Dr. comes in they are not going to do anything with it as it was surgically put in and his anatomy has now changed. He still has all the other drain tubes and so forth in him.

They keep telling him to urinate and he keeps telling them he doesn't have to. They said all the fluid going in has to come out and that it is going somewhere. After a few test they now believe him that he doesn't and they checked him to see if he still has good kidney function. It appears so. So, it looks like he is dehydrated (he has been saying that). I am waiting to see what they are going to do now with that.

The Dr. just came in while I was writing this. He said the chest tube (the more uncomfortable one) won't come out till he gets the one lung expanded out more. Jody is going to push much harder with that spirometer. We have an alarm set to do it now.

He also said they are going to up his IV fluids.

We went to New York last week for chemo and as usual the chemo part went smooth. I know I have said I did not know how the office could function. At times it feels so disorganized but, the girls up fr
