We got home Tuesday evening and the drive home was smooth. Jody didn't sick! The day after we get home though we both are usually exhausted. The trip to chemo takes a lot out of us.
Jody's nausea seems to be controlled with all the around the clock meds I am giving him. He is beyond exhausted though. I think he slept for at least 22 hours of the day while at chemo and now he's probably still sleeping 19-20 hours. He wakes up for short intervals throughout the day and then in the evening he will force himself up for a couple hours to come sit in the living room. I try to get all my work done during the day so we can spend a little time together while he is awake. I know I have had a few messages from people asking to come see him but, it will be a week or two. He really needs to rest to build his system back up before going back to chemo. If he doesn't rest when he is tired he will make himself very sick. I saw this happen the last chemo round. He pushed and got very sick one day until he laid down and got some sleep. I know everyone is missing him and wants to see him. Believe me when I say I miss my husband as well. But, his numbers came back better last time and I am not going to let anything jeopardize him getting the next round of chemo. He also has something called "chemo brain" or "chemo fog". For anybody who doesn't know what that is he is literally in a fog sometimes. He forgets the simplest of things or even that he talked to someone. So, I would say probably the week right before we go back for chemo is the best week to visit. For anybody I haven't told if you do want to come visit it will be on the porch, with a mask on, and some distance. We are not letting anyone in the house. Just shoot me a message and we can set up a time for that week.
Not much else is going on with Jody. He has gotten another one or two side effects this time around but, I think we are getting them under control.
