An Even Longer Night

Jody had a great evening. We played Scrabble and I won for the first time ever. It was luck and only a 5 point difference... We watched a movie and then he got his meds. He was definitely going to sleep well. We were both going to get sleep and then they increased the volume on the feedings and it all went down hill. The reflux started no matter how high he was up. The meds were working and he would start to doze off and then he felt the reflux and would start coughing until he would almost vomit. He fought the pain meds to not sleep so that the coughing and pain of vomiting would not happen. It was so bad he was standing half the night to keep the symptoms at bay and I would stand and help keep him up. This went on all night.

He also needed a new IV. That didn't go over to well. He hates needles and his blood pressure shot through the roof. After his nurse tried twice I had to tell her no more. She had to get someone that could get it on the next try and they were to get it.

His blood pressure didn't come down though. He was frustrated and tired. We made it through the night and they ordered some IV meds for his b/p. It is now 2 in the afternoon and we still have not slept. But, due to not being able to sleep and so much coughing and movement his lung expanded and he got the chest tube out today. The drain tube and feeding tube are still in.

The Dr. came in and is holding off on anymore feedings until tomorrow. Jody is feeling very weak and tired today. We originally were suppose to be home by Friday and today the Dr. said BEST CASE scenario we will get discharged over the weekend to the hotel across the street and sometime next week be able to go home. I am praying we will have best case scenario we both want to be home.

If you are a praying person please continue to pray for us. Pray that Jody has a full recovery, that all reports come back clean, and that we can handle all the rest that is coming to us from this awful disease.
